Unlike many parliamentary resolutions that are written by one person in a day or two, this project involved members of all wings of the Nevada Republican Party over two months to develop this resolution for the Nevada Republican Central Committee (NRCC) membership. This was not a victory exclusive to Dr. Paul’s followers and to even suggest such is destructive to the healthy cooperation and dialogue this resolution cultivated.

There was no “ex post facto” passage of anything as the references in Addendum A clearly illustrate. The rules of the convention were temporary and clearly outlined that the Rules Committee report must be voted on before nominations. Readers of the resolution can clearly see that we petitioned the Republican National Committee to change the record of the rules vote, but the NRCC doesn’t have the authority to declare our resolution as having taken this action. Preventing misunderstandings and distortions like this was the specific reason I insisted the addendum must be attached to the resolution. Leaders in our state party are working to encourage other Republican state and county committees to pass this resolution, forming a respectful, yet assertive consensus to petition the Republican National Committee to correct the record. Distorted messages like Ms. Kennedy's letter do grave harm to these efforts.

Many NRCC members have, and continue to, work hard to ensure fairness in the political process for all citizens of Nevada. The “Resolution to Reestablish Republican Unity and Principles” was created to help facilitate just that. There was nothing in “The Resolution to Re-establish Republican Unity and Principles”, nor any other resolution discussed at our meeting, that stated Nevada’s delegates were improperly bound, that rules or election laws were violated, or that the censuring of delegates who broke Nevada rules was improper. We must realize that in a party of intelligent and independent thinking people, no one person has a right to hijack the message or distort it to meet their selfish objectives. The resolution cover letter I included with NRCC member’s copies of the resolution included the sentence, “to be truly united, integrity and transparency are required.” Ms. Kennedy’s letter lacked integrity and transparency. I invite Cynthia to reexamine her copy of the resolution, as passed. I respect her passion for following Dr. Paul’s Liberty doctrine, but rather than publishing misrepresentations of NRCC events, I suggest she take up the larger, honorable task of educating and informing citizens with integrity. As the first paragraph of the addendum was titled, we must move “Towards Integrity, Then Unity.”

Shawn MeehanShawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18007997591478825330noreply@blogger.com
